Dental Implants

Missing teeth can have a negative impact on both your appearance and your oral health. At General and Cosmetic Dentistry, we frequently help patients regain their smiles using dental implant technology.

Dr Baker Hamdi, one of the principal dentists in our practice, is a skilled dental surgeon with many years of experience solving the problem of missing teeth. His knowledge and conscientious approach to dentistry provides exceptional results and a worry-free experience for our patients.

Why Replace Missing Teeth?

Missing teeth may make chewing, smiling, and speaking more difficult. Tooth loss leaves space for adjacent teeth to move, which may negatively impact bite function. When tooth loss occurs, patients can experience bone loss. Since healthy bone is the foundation that supports our teeth, deteriorating bone may lead to additional tooth loss and a sunken facial appearance.

We generally recommend replacing missing teeth to interrupt the negative impact that tooth loss may have on your health and smile.

Benefits of Choosing Dental Implants

We offer a number of tooth replacement options and will present all of them during your examination. The choice is always yours to make. We will answer questions and provide accurate information to help you make an informed decision.

Our patients often choose dental implants because of the many benefits they provide.

  • Bone retention
  • Bite preservation
  • Attractive results
  • A long-term solution
  • Convenience

Dental implants can also be used to provide an anchor to retain dentures and bridges, adding stability and providing confidence that many patients appreciate.

Implant-retained dentures snap into place on four or more strategically placed dental implants and will not shift when patients eat, yawn, or laugh.

What to Expect with Dental Implant Treatment

We start with a comprehensive evaluation to determine if dental implants are the best course of treatment. At our Kew East dental clinic, we have introduced 3-D cone beam imaging to determine bone density and identify the ideal location to place the dental implant post.

The entire dental implant surgery will occur right here in our clinic. Our dental team is passionate about providing gentle, compassionate patient care at our modern dental practice. Most patients report very little post-surgical discomfort and recover without complications.

We can sometimes place dental implants right after surgery, but in most cases, we allow time for dental implants to integrate with the natural bone before designing a custom dental implant crown. The healing process typically takes between 3 and 4 months.

Finally, we match the implant crown colour to existing teeth for an attractive outcome.

All-on-4 Implant Retained-Dentures

Patients who have experienced bone loss may have difficulty with reliable denture fit. All-on-4 implant dentures offer a more stable solution by using four dental implants - two anterior and two posterior - to lock dentures in place. Oftentimes, All-on-4 dental implants can be completed without the need for bone grafting by placing implants at an angle in available bone.

Implant-retained dentures eliminate slipping or shifting, making a wider variety of foods available to patients and preventing embarrassing denture mishaps while speaking, laughing or eating.

Caring for Dental Implants

Fortunately, caring for dental implants is simple. Regularly brushing teeth, flossing, and routine dental check-ups can promote the longevity of both your natural teeth and your implant and crown.
