Emergency Dentistry in Kew East, Melbourne

When a toothache occurs, finding a dental surgery that accepts patients on short notice poses a challenge. Dental emergencies rarely happen at convenient times, and they can cause stress and anxiety when trying to find a clinic to explain what is happening and offer solutions.

At General and Cosmetic Dentistry, we are here when you need us most.

Common Types of Dental Emergencies

At first, you may question whether your dental emergency requires immediate attention.

Dental pain rarely resolves on its own and can actually progress without the proper dental care. Teeth have a tough job to do, and while they are strong, they are not indestructible.

We address many common dental conditions in our Kew dental clinic:

  • Broken teeth
  • Tooth or jaw pain
  • Inflammation
  • Damaged crowns or fillings
  • Damaged partials or dentures
  • Knocked-out teeth
  • Sports-related injuries

If you have questions about whether you are experiencing a dental emergency, you are welcome to contact our surgery to determine the best course of action.

Emergency Dental Appointments

An emergency dental appointment seeks to accomplish two main goals:

  • Stabilize the condition
  • Relieve pain

When you arrive in our dental clinic for an emergency dental exam, we will first ask questions regarding your dental emergency to identify the problem. We will have a room prepared for you and take an x-ray image of the area. This assists our dentists with determining the extent of the condition and the best treatment option.

We will discuss all of your options with you to help you make an educated decision regarding your smile.

Root Canal Therapy

Sometimes the internal canals of teeth become infected. Since the canals house the nerve inside the tooth, they can become quite painful and inflamed in the presence of an infection. Root canal therapy removes the infected tissue and bacteria, allowing healing to occur.

Our dentists prioritise patient comfort and will completely anaesthetise your tooth before beginning any treatment. After root canal treatment, teeth can become more brittle and susceptible to damage. A dental crown can add stability and support to a compromised tooth.

Dental Extractions

At General and Cosmetic Dentistry, we strive to preserve natural teeth whenever possible. Unfortunately, however, some teeth are beyond repair, and an extraction becomes necessary. If this occurs, we have a skilled dental surgeon, Dr Baker Hamdi, who can perform all types of extractions here in our Melbourne dental practice.

  • Emergency extractions – surgical included
  • Wisdom teeth extractions
  • Regular dental extractions

We will always explain all treatment options available and answer any questions you may have so that you feel confident in your dentistry.
